Why a Cosmetic Nurse Co-Founded a Lip Serum Brand
League was co-founded by Fiona, a cosmetic nurse with over a decade of experience in aesthetics, and Tessa, who brought the operational and brand vision. The reason a cosmetic nurse started a lip serum brand is simpler than you’d think: she kept seeing the same gap between what her clients wanted and what was available to them.
What she saw in the treatment room
After years of administering lip filler, Fiona noticed a pattern. A significant number of clients coming in for injectable treatments didn’t actually need or want dramatic volume. They wanted smoother, fuller, more hydrated lips. They wanted their lips to look healthy and defined. Many of them were nervous about needles and would have preferred a non-invasive option if one existed that actually worked.
The problem was that the at-home lip products available were either basic glosses with no active ingredients, or aggressive plumpers loaded with irritants that stung, burned, and delivered results that faded within the hour. There was nothing in between.
Building the formula
Fiona’s clinical background meant she knew exactly which ingredients work on lip tissue and which are just filler in the other sense. She knew that peptides, specifically Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, could stimulate collagen production in the lips the same way they work in high-end facial skincare. She knew that sodium hyaluronate would penetrate lip skin more effectively than standard hyaluronic acid. And she knew that you don’t need capsaicin to plump lips.
League’s formula isn’t a collection of trendy ingredients. It’s a deliberate combination chosen by someone who understands lip anatomy and has spent years seeing what actually changes lip tissue for the better.
The metal applicator
The signature metal applicator wasn’t a design flourish. It was a functional decision. Metal applicators stay naturally cool, which helps soothe the lips on contact and reduces any mild inflammation. They also distribute product more evenly than a traditional doe-foot applicator, which tends to deposit too much product in some areas and too little in others.
Designed in Australia, sized for real use
League is proudly based in Melbourne. The serums come in a 10ml tube, which is twice the industry standard for lip products. This wasn’t generosity for its own sake. Fiona knew from clinical experience that consistency is what makes active ingredients work. A product that runs out in three weeks doesn’t give peptides enough time to deliver results.
